The rapid advancement and widespread integration of mobile technologies, especially in developing nations, have positioned mobile health (m-health) as a viable strategy for improving healthcare outcomes. Several studies have assessed the role of m-health solutions in resource-limited settings, examining their potential to enhance healthcare services. This review focuses on two key objectives: (1) to outline the significance and background of m-health and (2) to evaluate and synthesize existing research on its effectiveness in developing regions. A systematic literature search was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Scopus, along with reference list screenings, leading to the identification of 98 relevant studies classified into five primary m-health categories. Although conclusive findings remain limited due to small-scale research and lack of long-term impact assessments, this review provides an in-depth examination of the advantages, constraints, and challenges of m-health adoption in developing countries, offering insights to shape future m-health initiatives.
