Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative technology across diverse sectors, notably in renewable energy. In India, where the integration of renewable sources into the power grid is accelerating, AI methodologies, including machine learning, deep learning, and advanced data analytics, play a critical role in enhancing energy generation, optimizing consumption, and improving grid management efficiency. This study reviews the various AI applications in India’s renewable energy landscape, focusing on solar and wind energy integration. It highlights AI-driven advancements in energy forecasting, smart grid management, fault detection, and optimization of energy storage systems. Additionally, this paper provides a case study of an AI-driven smart grid project implemented in India, demonstrating the practical benefits of AI in optimizing energy efficiency, reducing grid instability, and enhancing the management of renewable energy sources. Finally, the paper discusses challenges and future opportunities for AI in India’s energy sustainability efforts.
