This research assessed how urbanization affects the rainfall-runoff process vis-à-vis the existing storm drainage and culvert design in Rivers State University's main campus. Rainfall data that suit the study area were combined with various equations, such as the Intensity Duration Frequency equation, Rational Formula, and Manning's equation, to obtain the current peak discharge and the required drainage area. The analysis showed that the amount of drainage needed increased by 881% compared to the existing drainage area. The study proposes recommendations for upgrading and optimizing the storm drainage and culvert design to mitigate flooding, erosion, and environmental impacts. The suggested improvements aim to enhance the overall resilience and sustainability of Rivers State University's central campus infrastructure, ensuring a safer and healthier environment for students, staff, and the surrounding community.
