Abstract

Effective waste management is a major challenge in urban areas, where improper disposal leads to pollution, health risks, and inefficient operations. Traditional collection methods rely on manual checks and fixed schedules, often causing overflowing bins and higher costs. To overcome this, the project introduces an IoT-based smart dry and wet garbage monitoring system that uses ultrasonic sensors, GPS, and SMS alerts to monitor waste levels in real time. When the bin reaches a set threshold, the system automatically sends an SMS alert with its GPS location, enabling timely collection. The data can also be stored on cloud platforms for route optimization and improved decision-making. This solution prevents overflow, reduces odor, enhances waste segregation, and promotes cleaner surroundings in residential areas, institutions, commercial spaces, and smart cities.
