Menopause is characterized as the definitive cessation of menstrual cycles, marking the end of female reproductive functions; the repercussions of menopause on psychological health are being increasingly recognized within scholarly discourse. Investigations centered on peri-menopausal and post-menopausal cohorts reveal a heightened incidence of depressive and anxiety-related disorders. In the absence of timely identification and intervention, the adverse implications on mental health associated with menopause may yield lasting effects on overall quality of life. Numerous health complications are associated with the progression of the menopausal transition. Cognitive impairments frequently coexist with the menopausal phase; nevertheless, other health issues such as reduced bone mineral density, mood disorders, vaginal atrophy, and musculoskeletal pain are of comparable importance. This research initiative aims to explore the relationship between psychological distress manifested as cognitive decline, depressive symptoms, memory impairment, sleep disturbances, and suicidal ideation, along with their effects on quality of life during the menopausal transition, utilizing readily available online databases. The amalgamation of mental health services with menopause management strategies can promote a more integrative care framework, uniting gynaecological, psychological, and lifestyle interventions for holistic patient support. An elevation in awareness and substantiated evidence could instigate policy reform directed at enhancing mental health resources for women undergoing menopause, encompassing increased funding for research endeavours and support for healthcare providers. Progress in research can aid in the development of improved educational resources for both women and healthcare practitioners, enabling them to more adeptly identify and address mental health issues related to menopause.
