Abstract

Objectives: The study aimed to assess the psychological impact (depression, anxiety and stress) of miscarriage among women in Bangladesh. Methods: Using a convenience sampling technique, a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 101 selected participants. Data was collected through face-to-face interviews. After data collection, it was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The findings of this study were found that most of the women experienced highly severe levels of psychological impact (Depression, Anxiety and Stress). The present study showed that the mean age of the participants was 26.89 years. There was a highly significant moderate positive correlation between the number of miscarriages and psychological impact. Age, family income, duration of marriage, and no alive child had significantly influenced higher levels of psychological impact (depression, anxiety and stress) in women with miscarriage. Conclusion: Family and society-centred interventions focusing on the psychological effect of miscarriage are required to enhance the knowledge and awareness about the causes and psychological impact of miscarriage. The findings of this study would be valuable to the health care providers, including nurses and policymakers, to minimize the psychological impact of miscarriage among women.
