Factors Related to Perinatal Anxiety among Primi Mothers at the Selected Hospitals in Bangladesh

Objectives: The study aims to identify the factors related to perinatal anxiety among Primi mothers in Bangladesh. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study design was conducted among 145 primi mothers who were selected by using a convenience sampling technique at the selected hospitals in Bangladesh. Data was collected through structured questionnaires from Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Mugda Medical College Hospital. The data was collected by face-to-face interview. The data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study was conducted from July 2022 to June 2023. Results: It was found that the majority (59.3%) of the primi mothers perceived severe perinatal anxiety. Mother age, monthly family income, gestational age, family members, types of family, and hospital distance were significantly associated with their anxiety. Conclusion: The study findings will be beneficial for the nurses to earn knowledge and understanding of their roles that will help to manage perinatal anxiety and take statements through their perspectives. It also contributes to developing a nurse’s role as a health care provider for promoting health and preventing illness by providing perinatal care, and nursing education and helps to guide future research in Bangladesh.
