Abstract

Pneumonia is a common and potentially life-threatening infection that affects the lungs, causing inflammation and fluid build, especially in under-5 children. Globally, it is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in this age group. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications such as respiratory failure, sepsis, and even death of the child. Early recognition, diagnosis, and treatment are crucial to prevent long-term effects and ensure optimal outcomes. This article provides a comprehensive overview of Pneumonia, aiming to enhance understanding of its complex nature while informing healthcare providers, researchers, students, and patients about current management strategies. The article explores the causes, classification, clinical symptoms, and management strategies. The diagnostic approach is also examined, highlighting the findings. Furthermore, we explore the management options, including antimicrobial therapy, supportive care, and adjunctive treatments. By elucidating the intricacies of Pneumonia, this article aims to enhance understanding and inform healthcare providers, researchers, students, and patients, ultimately contributing to improved outcomes and reducing the burden of this debilitating disease.
