Abstract

Digital images often experience degradation due to various environmental factors. This research aims to improve the quality of digital images through techniques of brightness and contrast manipulation, which collectively enhance the visual quality of images. Brightness manipulation involves adjusting pixel intensity values—either by increasing or decreasing them to enhance the overall luminance of the image. In contrast, contrast manipulation seeks to broaden the range of pixel intensities, thereby improving the differentiation between various features within the image. By integrating these techniques, the algorithm offers a simple, effective solution for enhancing image clarity and quality. The proposed method is implemented using Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL). Performance is evaluated by calculating the Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Mean Squared Error (MSE) for different output images, providing quantitative metrics to assess the effectiveness of these manipulation techniques. This approach ensures superior visual quality and offers a versatile solution for enhancing images under diverse environmental conditions.
