HealthVault: Secure QR Based Health Record System
Abstract
Proper handling of medical records is very important in healthcare delivering quality medical care services in many hospitals and clinics patient details is still maintained using old paper record systems although this method has been used for many years it has several limitations paper records are difficult to store organize and retrieve they are also vulnerable to physical damage loss or misplacement during emergency situations when immediate checking a patient’s health history is required finding information in paper files can cause dangerous delays in addition when patients visit multiple hospitals their medical data becomes scattered across different locations making it is hard for doctors to get a complete understanding of the patients health condition this lack of centralized and secure managing records can negatively affect diagnosis treatment accuracy and entire health system efficiency to address these challenges propose HealthVault a QR code-based secure and centralized medical record control system primary goal using this systems to digitize patient information and make them easily accessible while maintaining strong security standards in this system all patient information is stored in a secure digital database instead of paper files at the time of registration each patient is assigned a unique QR code that is directly linked to their medical records authorized healthcare professionals can scan the QR code to access patient data after successful login authentication the system follows role-based access control ensuring that only permitted users such as doctors or administrators can view or update sensitive information advanced security mechanisms such as encrypted data storage and secure database architecture are implemented to maintain confidentiality integrity and reliability of patient records testing and evaluation of the system show that it significantly reduces the time required to retrieve medical information it also minimizes paperwork improves record accuracy and enhances overall hospital efficiency furthermore the system is scalable cost-effective and suitable for integration with future digital healthcare initiatives.
