The significant burden of snakebites on public health in Ghana, with Kasoa being a prominent example of an affected area, warrants attention. Kasoa, located in Ghana’s Central Region and in close proximity to Accra, is experiencing rapid urban expansion. However, this rapid growth has not resulted in complete land clearance, and development sites remain plentiful. These undeveloped and construction areas offer ideal habitats for venomous snakes, whose activity increases significantly during the rainy season. Consequently, individuals engaged in outdoor occupations, such as construction and landscaping, are particularly vulnerable, often stumbling upon snake habitats without realizing it. This article focuses on a specific incident involving a venomous snakebite at a construction site in Kasoa, a town near Accra, Ghana. Reptiles Time (Online hub) is used as a valuable tool for discovering and learning about the different snake species inhabiting Ghana and their inherent characteristics. It will delve into the medical care provided and the subsequent health challenges experienced by a construction worker. Furthermore, it will explore preventive strategies and management options for snakebite incidents occurring in work environments.
