Abstract

The integration of biotechnology and waste management presents an innovative strategy for transforming industrial by-products into sustainable resources, particularly for eco-friendly green building solutions. Biotechnology utilizes microbial processes, enzymes, and biocatalysts to convert waste materials such as plastics, agricultural residues, and industrial effluents into useful products like bioplastics, biocomposites, and biofuels. These by-products, once discarded as waste, can now be repurposed into building materials that offer superior environmental benefits, including enhanced durability, energy efficiency, and reduced carbon footprints. When combined with effective waste management techniques, this approach fosters a circular economy by reducing landfill waste, recovering valuable resources, and minimizing the overall environmental impact. The development of green building solutions through biotechnology not only helps address the growing demand for sustainable construction materials but also supports the broader goal of reducing industrial waste and promoting resource efficiency. The synergistic relationship between biotechnology and waste management is critical in advancing sustainable practices, mitigating environmental challenges, and enabling the production of eco-friendly building materials that contribute to the creation of energy-efficient, low-impact green buildings.
