Abstract

The transition to sustainable transportation and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. This project proposes the design and implementation of an EV charging station with solar power as a step towards achieving this goal. By harnessing renewable solar energy, the charging station aims to provide clean and accessible charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The charging station integrates various components, including solar panels, charge controllers, a station battery, Converters, and an Arduino UNO for system monitoring. Multiple charging ports are provided to accommodate simultaneous charging of EVs. The charge controllers regulate the energy flow from the solar panels and ensure optimal charging of the station battery. An LCD connected to the Arduino UNO facilitates monitoring of real-time voltage and current levels. Additionally, the performance of the charging station is evaluated through MATLAB simulation results, providing insights into its efficiency and sustainability. Furthermore, a hardware model is implemented to demonstrate the practical effectiveness of using this charging station; it is analyzed at different solar irradiance conditions. This research contributes to advancing renewable energy integration with transportation infrastructure, promoting a greener and more sustainable future for urban mobility. Ultimately, integrating EV charging stations with solar power represents a crucial step towards achieving and creating livable, resilient cities for future generations.
