Smart home automation has become an important application of the Internet of Things (IoT), enabling users to monitor and control household appliances remotely through internet connectivity. This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart home automation system using the Node MCU ESP8266 and the Blynk platform. The proposed system allows users to control electrical devices such as lights, fans, and other appliances through a smartphone application from any location with internet access. The Node MCU ESP8266 module acts as the central controller, providing Wi-Fi connectivity and communication between the hardware devices and the Blynk cloud server. The system is designed to provide convenience, energy efficiency, and improved security in residential environments. Sensors and relay modules are integrated with the microcontroller to automate switching operations and monitor device status in real-time. The Blynk application offers a user-friendly graphical interface that enables easy device management without requiring complex programming knowledge. The proposed smart home system is cost-effective, reliable and scalable, making it suitable for modern smart living applications. Experimental results demonstrate efficient remote operation, reduced power consumption and enhanced user comfort. This work highlights the potential of IoT-based home automation systems in creating intelligent and energy-efficient homes for future smart city developments.
