Knowledge and Practice on Cardiac Well-Being and Screen for Hypertension among Adult-A Descriptive Study

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is one of the top causes of death and its severity and increase are concerning, so it is crucial to raise awareness of the condition and take steps to prevent it. The current review focuses on surveying the information and practice of heart prosperity and evaluating hypertension among the grown-ups going to a chosen metropolitan well-being place in Chidambaram. The objective of the study is to (1) identify the existing knowledge and practice on cardiac well-being, (2) to screen the subject and rule out hypertension (3) to associate the knowledge and practice on cardiac well-being among adults with selected demographic variables (4) to prepare a self-instructional module. The descriptive study design was chosen, and a convenience sampling technique was employed with a sample size of 100. The data were gathered using a tool that has three parts. Demographic information is included in Part I(a), clinical information and ECG results are included in Part I(b), a structured interview questionnaire is included in Part II (a), and cardiac health-related practice questions are included in Part II (b). The study conclusion shows that 98 (98%) of the subjects had self-reported poor practice, only 2 (2%) had average practice, and none had adequate practice regarding cardiac well-being. Regarding Knowledge, 25 (25%) of the subjects had moderate knowledge, while only 3 (3%) had adequate knowledge and 72 (72%) of the subjects, had inadequate knowledge. Additionally, it claims that some demographic factors, such as residence and income, have a substantial association with knowledge.
