A Study to Assess the Knowledge Regarding the Use of Temporal Artery Thermometer Among Staff Nurses, Working in Selected Hospital at Meerut

Body temperature is a vital sign that is regularly measured to assess the status of a patients’ health, facilitate diagnosis, and target treatments in a hospital setting. Normal body temperatures range from 36.5°C to 37. 5°C..Temporal artery thermometer is a new device which is aiding the health care workers to check the temperature in very quick manner, this makes various impacts in nursing care. Therefore, the investigator the decided to conduct this study, to assess the knowledge regarding the use of temporal artery thermometer among staff nurses. Quantitative descriptive research design was used for this study. 60 samples have been collected through non-probability, convenient sampling technique. Closed ended questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of the staff nurses. Descriptive and inferential statistics have been used to analyse the knowledge and chi-square test. Results shows that Female staff nurses have 57% knowledge score and male staff nurses have 55% knowledge score. Chi square test showed that there was a significant association with age, education, source of knowledge, experience, type of institution with their knowledge at p-value 0.05 level. Study concluded that, nurses have average knowledge about the use of temporal artery thermometer.
