An Experimental Study to Evaluate the Impact of a Structured Teaching Programme on Crash Cart/Max Cart in Terms of Knowledge and Expressed Practice among Staff Nurses Working in Intensive Care Units of Selected Government Medical College Attached Hospital

Abstract

Background of Study: An organized crash cart brings structure to chaotic situations in any critical care unit of the hospital. Aims and Objectives: The main goal of this study is to assess Staff Nurses' knowledge regarding the usage of crash carts before and after they have received the planned teaching program. The second aim of the study is to evaluate Staff Nurses' Practices with crash carts before and after they have received the planned teaching program. Method: A structured questionnaire and checklist have been used by the researcher to evaluate the Knowledge and Expressed Practice of ICU Nurses regarding the Crash cart. Results: The results showed that the mean score of the ICU Staff Nurses in the pre-test was 10.62 whereas the post-test score was 14.82. Conclusion: A study has been carried out on 50 nurses working in the Intensive Care Units of Civil Hospital Surat, G.G. Hospital Jamnagar, Sir T Hospital Bhavnagar, SSG Hospital Vadodara, Civil Hospital Ahmedabad-Gujarat. The researcher took 10 staff nurses from each hospital. The study concluded that they had adequate knowledge about crash carts. In addition, the study implies a positive association between the pre-test and post-test scores for knowledge about crash carts among these staff nurses.
