Cardiovascular diseases, particularly those requiring advanced interventions like coronary angiograms, are the leading cause of mortality in India. The Impella device, which provides hemodynamic support during procedures like percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), is crucial for managing patients experiencing instability. However, many critical care nurses (CCNs) face challenges due to a lack of formal training in handling this technology. This study aimed to develop an educational program for registered nurses (RNs) in a critical care setting, enhancing their knowledge, skills, and confidence in managing patients with Impella devices. Using King's Goal Attainment Theory and the Training Evaluation Model, the study evaluated the program's effectiveness through pre- and post-assessments. Results showed a 27% improvement in knowledge (p < .001), a 45% increase in confidence (p < .001), and a 25% improvement in psychomotor skills (p < .001). These findings emphasize the positive impact of structured educational interventions on nurse competence and patient safety in cardiac critical care units.
