Abstract

This review critically examines contemporary literature on the concept of successful aging, emphasizing the multidimensional nature encompassing physical health, psychological well-being, social engagement, and life satisfaction. The synthesis highlights key models and theoretical frameworks that define successful aging, including the biomedical, psychosocial, and ecological perspectives. Additionally, the review explores factors that contribute to aging successfully, such as lifestyle behaviours, social support, and resilience, alongside strategies for promoting healthy aging in diverse populations. The analysis underscores the importance of a holistic approach in research and practice to foster aging populations that maintain autonomy, purpose, and quality of life. Implications for policy, healthcare interventions, and future research directions are discussed to enhance understanding and implementation of successful aging paradigms.
