Abstract

Psychological issues among older adults are a growing public health concern, particularly as the global population ages. This review article explores the prevalence, risk factors, and clinical manifestations of common psychological disorders in older adults, including depression, anxiety, and dementia. It highlights the unique challenges faced by the older adults, such as social isolation, bereavement, physical health comorbidity, and cognitive decline, which can exacerbate psychological conditions. The article also discusses the strategies to address the psychological issues in older adults. The review emphasizes the need for integrated, multidisciplinary approaches to address the complex needs of older adults and calls for increased awareness, policy changes, and resource allocation to enhance psychological care for this growing demographic.
