Abstract

Objective: To explore the lived experiences of older adults in homes in Bangladesh. Methods: Using a purposive sampling technique, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted among 8 participants who lived in the old house. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis. Results: From data analysis, four major themes have emerged regarding stigmatized people with mental illness. These are 1) Coping with challenges, 2) Impaired Physical well-being, 3) Disrupt interpersonal communication, and 4) Hampered daily routine. Conclusion: The study findings contribute to ensuring balanced diets and shelter, expanding family and community support, increasing social security services, arranging education and training opportunities, and planning for employment and income-generating opportunities.
