A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Level of Knowledge Regarding Effect of Covishield Among 2nd Year GNM Nursing Students in Hillside School of Nursing, Bangalore

Background: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a highly transmissible and pathogenic new virus that causes COVID-19, an acute respiratory infection. One critical method of preventing COVID-19 is vaccination. On January 16, 2021, India began a phased vaccination program against COVID-19. First, vaccinations were given to frontline workers and health care providers; then, they were expanded to include people over 60 and those with co-morbidities aged 45 to 60; finally, vaccinations were given to all adults aged 45 and above. The study's primary goal was to determine how well-informed the students were about the impact of COVID-19 and how successful the instruction was. Materials and Methods: An evaluative Research approach was used to assess the effectiveness of a structured teaching program on the Effect of COVID-19 among students in Hillside School of Nursing, Bangalore. The research design adapted to this was one of the group pre-test and post-test designs. A purposive sampling technique was used to collect the data from 2nd year GNM students. A total of 30 students participated in the study. A teaching programme was given to improve the knowledge level of the students. Results: 8 (23.33%) of respondents have inadequate Knowledge, 19 (63.33%) have moderate Knowledge, and 3 (10%) have adequate knowledge. In the post-test, all students had sufficient Knowledge, followed by 6(20%) having a moderate level of Knowledge and 24(80%) having adequate Knowledge. Conclusion: The study found that the students gain enough Knowledge after attaining the teaching programme for Covishield.
