Abstract

A technique for risk assessment that measures the possibility of developing pressure ulcers is the Braden Scale. In addition to shear and friction, a patient may also be at risk for pressure injuries due to other variables. Decreased action, expanded wetness, reduced tactile mindfulness, restricted versatility, and unfortunate nourishment are a portion of these reasons. A standardised, evidence-based assessment instrument called the Braden Scale is often used in healthcare to determine and record a patient's risk of pressure injuries. The goal of the study, which included B.Sc Nursing students, was to enhance the clinical abilities of bedridden patients. The pre-experimental design was embraced for this concentrate where 50 B. Sc. Nursing students were picked as tests from the randomized probability inspecting methodology. The model was browsed at Mount Zion School of Nursing, Pudukkottai. 30 organized polls were executed for the information assortment method. A planned teaching programme on Pressure Ulcers and Braden Scale was given and evaluated. The collected data were tabulated, analyzed and interpreted by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings show that in the pre-test, the majority of the Nursing students had an inadequate level of knowledge of 68% and in the post-test, the level of knowledge increased to 80% of adequate knowledge. The obtained paired 't' test value of knowledge within the group was 12.007. Regarding association only age and religion show an association with selected demographic variables. Ageχ2 value was12.735 (P 0.0474) and religion χ2 value was17.596 (P 0.0073). The results of this study indicate that pressure ulcer and Braden scale knowledge is increased in B. Sc. nursing students primarily through the planned teaching programme and will contribute more to the improvement of patient care.
