Abstract

Internet addiction is an emergent health issue worldwide that is harmful to teenagers in both physical and mental health. Male students are higher than female students of Internet addiction since male students tend to solve problems by communicating with others. In addition, males are more addicted to the Internet because of online activities that they are engaged in. Objective: The study aims to evaluate Internet addiction among Bangladeshi college students. "Methods: A descriptive study design was conducted among 112 college students in Bangladesh. A convenience sampling technique was used to select study participants. Data was collected by a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean, range, and standard deviations to describe participants' characteristics. Inferential statistics were used to examine the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and internet addiction among college students in Bangladesh." Result: The results showed that the mean age of the participants was 19.05 years. Significant relationships were found among gender, internet use per day, and physical activity with internet addiction among college students. Conclusion: Internet addiction is a serious public health concern, but it is difficult to assess the problem and how widespread it is. Excessive internet use is dangerous for adolescents, both physically and mentally. Therefore, adolescents and their parents must know the risk factors for excessive internet use.
