Abstract

Background And Objectives: The study aims to determine the effectiveness of awareness sessions regarding plagiarism among Undergraduate Nursing students in selected Nursing Colleges at Mysuru. Objectives • To assess the knowledge regarding plagiarism among undergraduate nursing students. • To determine the effectiveness of awareness sessions regarding plagiarism among undergraduate nursing students. • To find the association between pre-test knowledge level regarding plagiarism with the selected demographic variables among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: Pre-experimental design, purposive sampling, and one set of pre- and post-testing nurses were employed in this study to choose participants from JSS College of Nursing, Mysore. After a pilot research, it was determined that the tool and study design were workable. Self-administered knowledge questions were used to gather data. Nursing students received programs on awareness. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the data collection and analysis processes. Results: The study's findings show that 8 (26.67%) of nursing students were between the ages of 21 and 22, while 22 (73.33%) were between the ages of 22 and 23. Additionally, 21 (70%) of nursing students were aware of plagiarism, and 9 (30%) had never heard of it before. In the pre-test, the majority of them had average knowledge, with 23 (76.67%) having it, 4 (13.33%) having poor knowledge, and 3 (10%) having good knowledge. In the post-test, 10 (33.33%) had average knowledge, 20 (66.67%) had good knowledge, and none of them had poor knowledge. Using a paired "t" test, the statistical significance of the difference between the mean pre-and post-test scores was examined. Pre-test knowledge scores range from 12.13 to ±3.37, with a mean value and twelve is the median score. With a median score of 20, the standard deviation of ±3.28, and the post-test knowledge score of 19.16 are reported. The outcome further demonstrates the improvement in knowledge scores following the awareness workshop program. The paired "t" test was used to calculate the significance of knowledge acquisition, and the resultant value of "t"(29): 22.36 was determined to be significant at the 0.05 level of significance about plagiarism. Conclusion: As a result, the study found that administering awareness-raising programs was a useful way to increase nursing students' understanding of plagiarism.
