Abstract

Education is the manifestation of perfection that is already in man. These famous words said by swami Vivekananda. The education is the overall modifications in behaviour of the students in all aspects of learning. The primary duty of every educational institution is to provide the highest educational experiences to the learners by adding the recent trends and technologies in learning. Every curriculum should be designed in such a way that it should correlate to the current generation and needs of the society.

Need for the study

Today the learning concept has extended to a wide variety of dimensions. According to modern philosophies of education, current generation students are easily getting advanced and ready resources for learning. Some times these resources might be very attractive and easily understood than traditional teaching methodologies. The application of teaching learning concepts and basic methodologies of teaching is very essential to run the education system in a successful way.

Materials and methods

The study was conducted by using non experimental descriptive study and total number of 97 participants were selected by using non probability purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by the samples by using self-administered rating scale which consisted of 25 statements represents the education system and the curriculum at their own educational atmosphere.

Results

The result of the study showed that the data collected from the 97 samples were carefully tabulated and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results were explained under different headings, which includes distribution of sample characteristics, Distribution of samples based on the opinion shared with rating scale and the association of the statements (quality of nursing education) with the selected demographic variables. The chi square test was used to assess the association of samples responses with the selected demographic variables. The result by the analysis of chi square test was found that there were several factors or statements are statistically significant with the selected socio demographic variables. The result of the study provides favourable evidences to accept the stated hypothesis of the study.

Conclusion

The present study aimed at understanding the student’s perception and opinions about the current status of the education in nursing. The study focuses on the several factors which influencing and affecting the nursing education. The participants provided valuable responses that are sometimes hidden and left unnoticed. Participants expressed that the factors such as method of evaluation, inadequacy of the learning materials, Regular innovative teaching, teachers’ preparation in adapting the new teaching trends, inadequate teaching faculties, and lack of mentorship and motivation by the teaching faculties plays an pivotal role in bringing the changes in the education and modification in the expected behaviour of the students.
