Clinical Evidence-Based Nursing Research and Improving Patient Care

Transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness in health care delivery are essential to ensuring that research evidence is translated into clinical practice and meets the needs of patients, families, and society. Although it is necessary, research is challenging to translate into clinical practice. This paper highlights the importance of clinically relevant nursing research and considerations that nurses must consider to interpret studies successfully in clinical practice. Research by nurse-led teams is increasingly recognized as a critical pathway to a practical and effective way of improving patient outcomes. It leads to promotes critical thinking and reflective practice. Effective research utilization can enhance policy decisions, resource allocation for programs, and decisions about how to deliver those services. However, the obstacles to conducting and translating research evidence are well established.
