Background of the study: Storing umbilical cord blood is a revolutionary concept in medical science and offers a promising avenue for preserving the potent regenerative properties found in newborns' umbilical cord blood. Stem cells from cord blood can be used to treat life-threatening conditions. The utilization of stored cord blood stem cells is extensive and continuously growing. They offer the potential for treating various illnesses, such as specific cancers, blood disorders, immune deficiencies and genetic disorders. Moreover, ongoing research studies investigate their possibilities in regenerative medicine for issues like spinal cord injuries and neurological disorders. Aim: This study evaluated the awareness of expectant mothers concerning cord blood banking and stem cell therapy at Outpatient departments in a chosen tertiary care centre at Mysuru. Methodology: 60 Antenatal mothers were selected through a convenient sampling method, and data were gathered by administering a structured knowledge questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the collected data. Results: Findings of the study showed that the majority, 38(63.33 %) of antenatal mothers had poor knowledge, while the remaining 17(28.33%) demonstrated average knowledge and 05 (8.33%) exhibited good knowledge. A significant association was observed between antenatal mothers' knowledge level regarding cord blood banking and stem cell therapy with their selected variables like gestational weeks and prior knowledge. Conclusion: Since the Majority of antenatal mothers were unaware of the potential benefits of the storage of cord blood and stem cell therapy, there is a need to enhance their understanding through health education programmes and the distribution of informative pamphlets.
