Abstract

The design and hydrodynamic analysis of a suspension system in a catamaran yacht aims to enhance vessel performance and passenger comfort in diverse sea conditions. Catamarans, renowned for stability and speed, require a well-engineered suspension system to mitigate substantial vertical motion, particularly in rough seas. The primary objective is to craft an adaptable suspension system capable of efficiently absorbing and dampening vertical forces across various sea conditions and vessel loads while preserving or amplifying hydrodynamic efficiency. Advanced computational modelling techniques are utilized to precisely analyze the system's behaviour and influence on the catamaran's hydrodynamics, encompassing adjustments in resistance, stability, and overall performance in distinct sea states. The study seeks to optimize the suspension system design, balancing improved passenger comfort and minimal interference with hydrodynamic performance. By fostering the creation of catamaran yachts that offer upgraded and more comfortable voyages for passengers and crew, this endeavour aims to solidify their status as the preferred choice for sea travel. The project endeavours to elevate the standard of catamaran yacht design through meticulous research and engineering, ensuring enhanced performance and comfort across maritime conditions.
