Artificial Intelligence and Music Industry: An Exploratory Study

Abstract

In present time many voice processing apps are found to be used in music production industry. Both singers and non-singers are making use of these apps. These apps have their merits as well as demerits.
As creativity initiators, voice processing apps allow artists to experiment with their vocals in innovative ways, offering features like pitch correction, vocal effects, and voice modulation. These tools can help artists break free from natural vocal limitations and explore new artistic possibilities, leading to fresh sounds and the creation of unique musical genres.
However, as creativity inhibitors, over-reliance on voice processing can lead to a homogenization of sound, where many artists produce similar, highly processed vocals. This can stifle originality and limit the diversity of musical expression.
In essence, voice-processing apps can either stimulate creativity by expanding artistic possibilities or hinder it by creating uniformity and reliance on technology, depending on how they are used. This study is an attempt to explore the perspective of music admirers and non-admirers towards the use of artificial intelligence by means of voice processing apps in the music industry.
