Abstract

The increasing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions has accelerated the development of Electric Vehicles (EVs). However, conventional battery electric vehicles are limited by range constraints, charging infrastructure, and grid dependency. This paper presents the design and implementation of an electric vehicle supplemented by solar energy, which integrates photovoltaic (PV) panels with a conventional electric vehicle system to harness solar energy as a supplementary power source. The proposed system enhances the vehicle’s range and energy efficiency while reducing reliance on the electrical grid. The integration includes an intelligent energy management system to optimize the power flow between the solar panels, battery, and motor. Performance simulations and real-world testing demonstrate improvements in extended driving range, reduced carbon footprint, and overall energy sustainability. The SABEV concept represents a significant step toward greener transportation solutions, particularly for regions with high solar irradiance.
