Abstract

The temperature-based speed control of exhaust fans is an advanced system designed to enhance the efficiency and performance of ventilation systems by dynamically adjusting the fan speed according to the ambient temperature. This system utilizes temperature sensors strategically placed in the environment to continuously monitor fluctuations in temperature. When the temperature exceeds a predefined threshold, the fan speed increases to ensure adequate ventilation and cooling, whereas if the temperature falls below a set value, the fan speed decreases to conserve energy and reduce unnecessary noise. The system employs a microcontroller or a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to process the temperature data and control the fan’s motor speed through a variable speed drive or similar mechanism. This automated adjustment not only ensures a stable and comfortable environment but also minimizes energy consumption by operating the fan only at the necessary speed, depending on the temperature needs. Moreover, the system reduces mechanical wear on the fan motor, extending its lifespan. Such an approach is particularly beneficial in environments like industrial settings, server rooms, or residential buildings, where ventilation needs vary with temperature fluctuations. This method provides an energy-efficient, cost-effective solution, improving both the longevity of the system and the comfort of the occupants or users by maintaining optimal temperature conditions while minimizing energy waste.
