Abstract

Over time, the electricity system we currently use has undergone several changes. Either changes in consumer preferences or scientific and technological advancements are to blame for these modifications. The "Smart Grid" is the name given to our current picture of a future electrical power grid. This power system's various functional and operational features are intended to address the problems with cost, generation shortfall, and dependability in the power grid. The mainstream of power systems worldwide continues to function as conventional power systems, with one-way power flow and communication. The shield plans and views of the power system are affected by the transition to a Smart Grid (SG) since DG units and other Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) will be integrated into the SG, resulting in a bidirectional flow of information and electricity. As a result, improvement and growth in the shield tactics are also required. The paper outlines the need for a smart grid and the provisional periods that the power system shield has undergone.
