Fuzzy Logic Controller Foundations: A Review

The use of language variables rather than numerical variables is a key characteristic of fuzzy logic controllers, which are among the most successful implementations of fuzzy set theory. Fuzzy logic is a simple technique for deriving a definitive result from unclear, noisy, or missing input data. In situations when precise mathematical formulations are tiresome, fuzzy logic controllers are a suitable option. The properties of the fuzzy logic controller are greatly affected by any alteration to the shapes and overlaps of fuzzy sets. Consequently, the design process and final performance are greatly influenced by the expertise and experience of the designer. An overview of fuzzy control is given in this work, along with a description of its general methodology, some of its main techniques, and the mathematical ideas used in linguistic rules.
