Abstract

The rising global interest in renewable energy has increased the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. While solar panels are considered efficient and sustainable, real-time monitoring of their performance is necessary due to variability caused by environmental conditions, aging, and system faults. This research study proposes a low-cost, IoT-enabled solar panel efficiency monitoring system designed to optimize energy generation, monitor environmental parameters, and ensure predictive maintenance. The system utilizes sensors to collect data on solar irradiance, voltage, current, temperature, and dust accumulation. This information is processed by microcontrollers (ESP32 and Arduino UNO) and displayed using an LCD interface. Data is also transmitted to IoT platforms like ThingSpeak or Blynk for visualization and analysis. The system aims to reduce inefficiencies, improve solar yield, and prolong the system’s lifespan.
