Abstract

Pithecellobium dulce is a versatile herb that has several uses in traditional medicine. Numerous studies are being carried out to determine whether the entire plant or any of its component elements can be used to treat a range of illnesses and meals. Triterpenoids, flavonoids, sterols, and tannins are the plant's active ingredients. The health-promoting and disease-preventing qualities of proteins, carbohydrates, steroids, and other substances the modern scientific research has investigated and validated numerous traditional practices and natural compounds, confirming their potential benefits and mechanisms of action. This study examines the multifaceted medicinal properties of Pithecellobium dulce, which include antioxidant, antimicrobial (antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial), anti-diabetic, diuretic, anthelmintic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, hypoglycemic, and sedative effects. This review highlights P. dulce's therapeutic potential, paving the way for its incorporation into modern medicine. The previous research indicates P. dulce's potential in managing diverse health issues, including metabolic, infectious, and inflammatory conditions. Its therapeutic properties encompass antioxidant, lipid-regulating, and antimicrobial effects.
