Cancer Awareness Program at Government Botanical Garden, Ooty: A Collaborative Initiative

Abstract

This paper outlines the outcomes of a collaborative Cancer Awareness Program orchestrated by the Department of Pharmacy Practice at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty, in conjunction with IPA Nilgiris local branch, Rotary Club Nilgiris West, Rotaract Club of JSSCP, and BS Hospital, Ooty. Supported by sponsorship from JSSAHER, Mysuru, the program aimed to elevate awareness regarding cancer risk factors, diagnosis, screening, vaccination, treatment, and prevention among both the local populace and tourists. Taking place at the Government Botanical Garden, Ooty, the initiative garnered significant positive feedback, underscoring a palpable interest in future awareness endeavours. With a focus on advocating for a healthier lifestyle, the event also succeeded in rallying support for cancer prevention strategies. In summary, this collaborative endeavour not only effectively disseminated vital information but also fostered community involvement in the collective effort to combat cancer, marking a significant step forward in public health education.
