Abstract

Mimosa pudica also referred to as the sensitive plant, displays fascinating responses to environmental factors such as light and touch. it is originally found in tropical and subtropical areas. Traditional medicinal systems, including Ayurveda and Unani, have historically employed this plant for its various healing properties. Recently, there has been an increase in scientific interest in Mimosa pudica, attributed to its abundant bioactive compounds like tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, and saponins, which are associated with strong antioxidant, pain-relieving, and anti-inflammatory benefits. These attributes position it as a viable option for managing pain and addressing chronic ailments such as cancer and cardiovascular issues. Additionally, its antidiabetic effects indicate its potential for regulating blood glucose levels and improving insulin sensitivity, making it advantageous for managing diabetes. Furthermore, Mimosa pudica has been shown to have beneficial effects on wound healing and liver health by reducing oxidative stress and promoting cell regeneration.
