Goals and Objectives: To evaluate postpartum mothers' knowledge and attitudes toward particular comfort measures before and after the test, as well as to ascertain the relationship between knowledge and attitude with particular demographic factors.
Methods: Using a non-probability convenience sampling technique, 100 post-caesarean women participated in a pre-experimental one-group pre-test-post-test research design. A systematic knowledge questionnaire, a Likert rating scale for attitude, and a demographic proforma were used to gather data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.
Results: The study showed that postpartum mothers’ attitudes and knowledge about certain comfort measures were improved by the organized instruction program. With a "t" value of 39.046 (p < 0.05), the mean knowledge score increased considerably from 12.77 (pre-test) to 25.26 (post-test). Similarly, with a "t" value of 17.737 (p < 0.05), the mean attitude score increased from 67.26 (pre-test) to 86.24 (post-test). These results show that the knowledge and attitude gains were statistically significant and not due to chance. At the 5% level of significance, there was no discernible relationship between demographic factors and pre-test knowledge or attitude. All things considered, the planned education program turned out to be a dependable and successful way to improve postpartum care.
Interpretation and Conclusion: The paired ‘t’ test showed a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge and attitude scores. This indicates that the structured teaching programme effectively improved both knowledge and attitude of post-caesarean mothers. Hence, the research hypotheses H₁ and H₂ were accepted. The study concludes that the structured teaching programme was effective in enhancing knowledge and bringing positive changes in attitude. The improvement was statistically significant and not due to chance. Therefore, it can be recommended as an important strategy for better post-caesarean care.
