Abstract

Aims & Objectives: The goal of the research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme on knowledge related to selfie addiction and its prevention among adolescents. Methods: Before testing the effectiveness of a structured education programme on knowledge related to selfie addiction and prevention among adolescents was evaluated using a single group pre-test and post-test approach. Given the nature of the issue and to meet the study's aims, a structured curriculum for teachers was created that emphasized understanding of selfie addiction and how to prevent it. The effectiveness of the organized instruction course was evaluated using a prepared structured questionnaire. The tool's validity was confirmed and its reliability (r=0.95) was assessed by consultation with guides and professionals in the fields of nursing, medicine, and statistics. Using a non-probability convenient sampling procedure, 100 degree college students were chosen to participate in the study at St. Joseph's Degree College in Mysuru. A structured knowledge questionnaire was used to get the required information. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. Results: The mean pre-test score for the knowledge assessment was 14.2, while the mean post-test score was 24.90. The pre-test and post-test scores differed by a mean of 10.68. At the 5% level, the computed Paired 't' value was 35.25(0.05), with significance. This demonstrated the efficacy of STP on information about selfie addiction and prevention. As a result, the study hypothesis (H1), according to which there is a substantial difference between the mean knowledge score from the pre- and post-test, is accepted. Conclusion: According to this study, teenagers responded well to the STP on understanding selfie addiction and how to prevent it.
