Abstract

In addition to the current systematic study, it was meant to look into and discuss the effect of therapeutic massage on the weight rise of premature neonates. The relevant research papers were found on PubMed and Google Scholar using the search terms preterm, massage, and weight growth. Eight research studies used coconut oil, virgin coconut oil, essential fatty acids, Medium Chain Triglyceride oil (MCT), and vegetable oil to determine how therapeutic massage affects weight gain. The research reports indicate that massage had a noteworthy effect on weight growth, length of hospital stay, and neurobehavioral alterations in preterm neonates. We may conclude that massage therapies successfully promote weight gain, a growth and development metric of premature children with comparable physiological, cultural and social characteristics. Given this, it is believed that this present research will contribute to the corpus of information about the use of massage treatment with preterm infants.
