Abstract

This research article explores the implications of screen time on the development of children, focusing on both physical and mental health impacts. With the increasing prevalence of electronic devices in children's lives, concerns have risen about how screen exposure affects cognitive and social development, learning, behavior, and physical health. The article delves into the critical developmental period for young brains, highlights issues such as myopia, obesity, and mental health disorders linked to excessive screen time, and examines the role of parental involvement and inappropriate parenting styles in exacerbating these issues. The article concludes with guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and recommendations for fostering digital discipline within families.
