A Pre-experimental Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Nurse-Led Health Promotion Package in Terms of Physical and Psychological Wellbeing among Post COVID Patients from Community of Delhi

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic led to prolonged exposure to stress and reduced physical activities as well as the well-being of post-COVID patients which caused the development of physical as well as psychological problems. A pre-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of a nurse-led health promotion package in terms of physical and psychological well-being among post-COVID patients from the community of Delhi. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the nurse-led health promotion package in terms of physical and psychological well-being among the post-COVID patients from the community of Delhi. The research design adopted for the present study was a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. A nonprobability purposive sampling technique was used for selecting 30 -post-COVID patients. Self-structured Likert scale assessment tool for post-COVID patients was used to assess the level of physical and psychological well-being. The Nurse-led health promotion package was given for 20 min daily for 2 weeks which includes a yoga session for 10 minutes, laughter therapy for 5 minutes and behaviour change communication for 5 minutes. The result shows in the pre-test of physical well-being majority of 25 (83.33%) of post-COVID patients had weak physical well-being scores, and 05 (16.66%) had moderately strong physical well-being scores. In the post-test of physical well-being, the majority of 28 (93.33%) of post-COVID patients had strong physical well-being scores, and 02(6.66%) had moderately strong physical well-being scores. In the pre-test of psychological well-being, 15(50%) of post-COVID patients had a moderately balanced psychological well-being score, and 15 (50%) had an imbalanced psychological well-being score. In the post-test of psychological well-being, the majority of 28(93.33%) of post-COVID patients had a balanced psychological well-being score, and 2(6.66%) had moderately balanced psychological well-being. The result shows that in physical wellbeing “t” value was 34.80 which is greater than the table value of 2.05 for df 29 at 0.05 level of significance and in psychological wellbeing “t” value was 41.49 which is greater than the table value of 2.05 for df 29 at 0.05 level of significance hence the Nurse led health promotion package was effective for post-COVID patients in improving their physical and psychological wellbeing.
