Awareness, Acceptance and Barriers towards Contraceptive Use among Rural and Urban Couples in Selected Community Areas in Thiruvananthapuram District Kerala

The use of contraception by women of all religious fraternities is common. 89% of Catholics at risk, and 90% of Protestants at risk are using a programme. For the religious with sexual education, 99 percent of Catholics and Protestants also used a form of contraception. 72 percent of women currently utilize non permanent strategies mainly contraceptive strategies (i.e. tablets, patches, injections, injectables and the vaginal ring), IUDs, and condoms. The remainder depends on the sterilization of the female (22%) or the male (7%). The two most widely used approaches since 1982, are pill and female sterilization. A quantitative study approach has been used the study to assess the Awareness, Acceptance and Barriers towards Contraceptive Use among Rural and Urban Couples in Selected Community Areas in Thiruvananthapuram District Kerala. The design used for the study was Descriptive comparative research. The samples collected for the study were rural and urban couples. The sample size used was 600 (300 rural and 300 urban couples) consecutive sampling technique was used. After the collection of data analysis was done by quantitative based on objectives and hypotheses. t test was used to compare the awareness, acceptance and barriers among rural and urban couples. Chi square is used to find out the association of findings with the variables.
