Background: The study was designed to assess how a structured teaching programme influences the antenatal mothers' understanding of timely detection of the high-risk pregnancy in a selected hospital in Bangalore.
Objectives: This research adopted an evaluative approach suitable for assessing awareness related to early recognition of high-risk pregnancy conditions. It utilized a one-group pre-test and post-test design to measure the influence of the educational intervention programme.
Methods: Sixty antenatal mothers were chosen as sample through purposive sampling method. Their knowledge was measured using a structured questionnaire before and the after of the programme.
Results: Average pre-test score calculated was 9.3 (SD = 2.43), while post-test score had increased to 22.16 (SD = 2.34). The paired t-test yielded value of 34.06 with the p-value of 0.0001, revealing a statistically significant improvement. The used chi-square test showed the associated relationships between demographic variables and knowledge scores.
Conclusion: The findings confirm the structured teaching programme effectively optimizes the participants' understanding of the early signs of high-risk pregnancy.
