Knowledge vs Practice: A Gap Analysis Among Nursing Students Regarding Diabetes and its Complications in Shendi University

Background: Diabetes mellitus is the leading cause of death for adults. It is ranked in the top 10 major causes of death for adults globally, and it was estimated to have caused four million deaths in 2017. all through 2017.Undergraduate nursing students at Shendi University's Faculty of Nursing were the focus of this study, which had 158 participant.
Aim: To assess nursing student knowledge, attitude and practice towards DM and its complication. To identify the association between their knowledge attitude and practice towards DM and its complication with their socio demographic data.
Methodology: Cross sectional descriptive study, with data collected via a Google Form that included 17 questions about knowledge about diabetes and its prevention, 11 questions about attitudes, and 8 questions about practices to prevent complications from diabetes.
Results: The data was analyzed using SPSS version 26 with descriptive statistics (Mean and SD) and inferential statistics, with a P value of 0.05 deemed to be a significant correlation outcome. There was a p-value for both knowledge and practice, and our participants had high knowledge attitudes.000, while practice regard DM and its complications p value.001. There is significant correlation between social data and their knowledge, attitude and practice.
Conclusion: Participants explored positive knowledge attitude and practice.
