Abstract

This study aimed to conduct a strategic analysis of the implementation of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) in the nursing program of a selected private higher educational institution. It focused on assessing the level of awareness and understanding of OBE among faculty and students, identifying perceived challenges and barriers, and evaluating the extent to which OBE principles were integrated into the curriculum, instruction, and assessment methods. Using a descriptive quantitative design, survey data were collected from 449 nursing students and 84 faculty members through a validated questionnaire. Findings revealed that faculty had a high level of awareness and understanding of OBE, while students showed moderate familiarity. Key challenges included a lack of orientation and training, misalignment between learning outcomes and instructional content, and inadequate assessment strategies. Despite these issues, both groups acknowledged the relevance of OBE in enhancing nursing education and graduate competence. The study concluded that while foundational elements of OBE are present, gaps remain in implementation that require strategic interventions. Recommendations include comprehensive training, curriculum alignment, resource enhancement, and continuous evaluation mechanisms. These strategies are essential to ensure that the nursing program effectively produces outcome-oriented and industry-ready graduates. A discrepancy logic model has been developed suggested for further testing.
