Behaviour of Academic Procrastination Among Nursing Students

Introduction: Procrastination is a major challenge everyone faces at some point. It is common behavior phenomenon among the students. It results into lack of focus, concentration and a reduced interest in activities.
Objectives: 1) To assess the personality attributes of the participants; 2) To identify the behavior of academic procrastination among the participants; 3) To identify the association between academic procrastination and selected demographic variables among nursing students; 4) To determine the correlation between academic procrastination of the nursing students with their personality traits.
Methodology: A quantitative research approach was designed and 400 subjects were selected through convenient sampling.
Results: Result of the study revealed that 34.5% of the subjects exhibited agreeableness personality trait. It was also observed that 46.2% of subjects showed higher than average frequency of procrastination.
Conclusion: There are multiple domains of academic procrastination and comprehensive approach is needed to address the problem.
