Knowledge Enhancement on Cardiovascular Diseases Prevention: An Interventional Study Among Non-Clinical Hospital Staff

Aim: As per ICMR report (2019), total death in the country due to NCDs (Hypertension, Diabetes, tuberculosis and cancers) was 61.8% in 2016, as compared to 37.9% in 1990. Consequently current study intended to appraise Knowledge of assisting employees working in hospitals about prevention of CVD plus to check whether educational intervention was effective in their knowledge enhancement.
Methods: One group pre test post test (Pre experimental) research design was implemented during study. The time period employed in data collection was 4 weeks from September 4 to September 30, 2023. Sampling technique adopted was Purposive in nature. Data assembling was carried out by questionnaire method. The data collection tool comprises of two parts.
Result: In pre – test majority of group D employees 71.67% had insufficient knowledge level and 21.66% had moderate level knowledge while in post test 66.67% participants had sufficient level of Knowledge and 33.33% had moderate level of Knowledge concerning cardio vascular diseases prevention. Paired 't' test score 20.7293 was higher than table score (1.9842 at df-119). No considerable relationship found amid the knowledge scores in pre test with other socio demographic variables.
Conclusion: The present research identified regarding most of the Class D employees had below average Knowledge concerning avoidance of cardio vascular diseases and it recommends the requirement for customary continue learning initiatives. Information booklet was successful in enhancement of the Knowledge of Group D employees concerning avoidance of cardio vascular diseases.
