Abstract

Because of their remarkable mechanical qualities, longevity, and structural resilience, ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) and ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) have drawn a lot of attention lately. Numerous research on UHPC and UHPFRC are examined in this overview of the literature, with an emphasis on their mixed design, material composition, and real-world applications. The use of UHPFRC in retrofitting and rehabilitation of existing buildings, the use of local resources to improve sustainability and lower costs, and the function of steel fibers in enhancing toughness and flexural performance are some of the research highlights. The investigations also highlight how rheological characteristics, curing conditions, and mix proportions affect the overall performance of concrete. Despite its great qualities, UHPC’s broad application is restricted by issues with high costs and few design codes. The wider use of UHPC in contemporary buildings might be encouraged by addressing these limitations through economic feasibility studies and optimal material use. This evaluation sheds light on UHPC’s potential for long-term sustainability and structural innovation in the building sector.
